when he visited the area to preach. Inside the chapel, holy water flows, which the faithful receive as a blessing. The site is open to pilgrims, who can enter and walk through a corridor about 10 meters long until they reach a rectangular chamber where, according to tradition, Saint Paul stayed.

Chapel of Panagia Faneromeni

This beautiful chapel is located 2 km from Nea Skioni and dates back to the 16th century. Inside the church there is an icon of the Virgin Mary painted on an upright statue base. According to local tradition, the icon reached the chapel by sea from Thessaly. Inside the chapel, visitors can read the story and miracles associated with the icon of Panagia Faneromeni.

Holy Monastery of Saint John the Russian

The Holy Monastery of Saint John the Russian is located on the ridge of the Kassandra peninsula, in the wider area of Pefkochori. It is a sacred hermitage visited by many faithful, especially during the summer months.

Church of Saint Demetrios – Afitos

It was built in 1858 on the ruins of an older church dedicated to the same saint, which was destroyed in 1821 during the devastation of Kassandra, along with the entire village.

It is a three-aisled basilica with a dome, an integrated bell tower, a narthex, and a courtyard. It was built by craftsmen from Northern Epirus with the personal help of the villagers. A major contribution was also made by the Simonopetra monk Philip.

The church’s iconostasis is wood-carved with painted floral decoration and adorned with 19th-century icons created by Georgios Athanasiou from Galatista.

In the central aisle of the church, there is the icon of Panagia Afytiotissa, a 14th-century work from Constantinople.

Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (1850)

Through cobbled alleys, visitors are led to the main church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, built in 1850.

Particularly noteworthy are the old bell tower, the carved lintel arch at the western entrance, and its rich decoration, all of which highlight both the historical and religious importance of the church.

The arch comes from the iconostasis of Saint Demetrios Church in Thessaloniki and features early Christian carved representations.

Religious Tourism Visit churches, monasteries, and religious landmarks that inspire peace and hold deep historical significance.A journey of spirituality and tradition through places of distinctive character.
